Take-A-Long TAGGIES™ go home for the holidays
Taggies Bring Cheer To Newborns, Moms In Hospital-Based Giveaway
This holiday season, as they take home the gift of a new baby,
birth moms at Beth Israel Deaconess and Massachusetts General Hospitals
in Boston also will receive a well-stuffed stocking’s worth
of special presents for the whole family.
Just for baby, each gift bag holds a Take-A-Long Taggie® – a
soft, fuzzy plush toy trimmed all around with the satiny tags babies
love to rub. A sturdy teether ring is attached, to keep baby’s Take-A-Long
Taggie close at hand by hooking easily to carseat or stroller.
Take-A-Long Taggie is a product of Taggies Inc.,
of Spencer, Mass., which will donate 1,500 of the toys to the Birth
Mother Holiday Gift Program, sponsored by SBLI (Savings Bank Life
Insurance Company) and the Infinity broadcasting stations WBZ-AM
and WZLX-FM.
New moms also will receive a coupon for free personalization of
a Taggie purchased through the company’s
website, www.taggies.com.
“We are thrilled to be ‘meeting’ so many new
moms in this magical season, and we’re delighted to join
this project with such prominent and good-hearted partners,” says
Julie Dix, who created the first Taggies “security
blanket” and today runs the multimillion-dollar
company with her business partner and fellow mom, Danielle Ayotte.
Free Blockbuster movie rentals, a heavy-duty canvas tote bag for
Dad, and plenty of product samples for adults and children are
among the other gifts new moms will receive in the Birth Mother
Holiday Gift program. All gift recipients will be eligible to win
a $1000 savings bond and a free vacation, courtesy of SBLI. Along
with Taggies, SBLI and Infinity, the program’s
sponsors include the For Fathers Project, Baby Buddies, BJ’s
Wholesale, Neat Solutions, Ian’s Natural Foods, Eastern Mountain
Sports, Cains Foods and Burt’s Bees.
Taggies’ participation in the SBLI holiday
program marks another entry in the company’s long list of Taggies
Random Acts of Kindness – an ongoing corporate project,
born along with the company itself, in which Taggies blankets,
pillows and plush toys have been given to needy children through
more than two dozen hospitals, charitable organizations, and philanthropic
foundations. Supported by customer donations as well as the company’s
own outreach, Random Acts of Kindness has touched thousands of
children with the gift of a Taggies “lovey” trimmed
with colorful, satiny tags for instant tactile comfort.
All Taggies products meet or exceed all voluntary
standards and mandatory regulations set by the Consumer Product
Safety Commission and American Society for Testing and Materials
for children's blankets and toys, in addition to meeting Canadian
and European standards.
The Taggies product line includes small and large
fleece blankets, plush toys, pillows, crib sets and the soft-cover
Scholastic books "My First Taggies®Book:
Sweet Dreams" and “My First Taggies® Book:
I Love You.” Taggies products are sold at
more than 4,000 independent specialty shops nationwide and in Canada
and through more than a dozen catalogs, including Red Envelope
and Lillian Vernon. Taggies books are sold at
Wal-Mart, Target, Borders, Barnes & Noble and other mass marketers. Taggies products
